New Myrnam School Wins Energy Revealed: Energy Efficiency Education and Climate Action Grant!
New Myrnam School students will be very busy next year learning about energy efficiency as they were rewarded with an Energy Revealed: Energy Efficiency Education & Climate Action grant for the 2018-19 school year! This grant, valued at over $10,000, will provide us with energy meters which will be installed throughout the VIllage of Myrnam's CTEC facility. Students will be able to see, in real time, exactly how much power is being used throughout the CTEC facility, right down to each individual power outlet. Students will analyze the graphs and data provided from the energy meters to make a plan about how to reduce energy consumption in CTEC and NMS. This project will involve all students in grades 4-12, who will work collaboratively to make a plan about how to reduce our energy consumption as a school community based on the data we receive.
This is a fantastic project for our students, and it ties in perfectly with our A + For Energy project, where we will be learning about renewable energy, including solar power, wind power and biofuel.
The students and staff of New Myrnam School would like to thank the Alberta Council for Environmental Education for providing us with this grant! It will be put to good use, as the students and staff of NMS will become leaders in energy efficiency and sustainability!
