St. Paul Education’s top priority continues to be student, staff, and community safety in this unique global situation. We want to sincerely thank you for your continued patience as we make our way forward. In collaboration with all division schools and central office staff, we have developed strategies to deliver educational services to all of our students during this interruption to normal educational practices.
Starting the morning of Wednesday, March 18, schools will resume instruction and provide educational resources for our students enrolled in Grade 12 diploma courses. Please visit our school website to find links for our grade 12 teachers. Within the teacher folders, each course will have a folder with instructions for students to access their course materials.
Thursday, March 19, work for students in grades 10 and 11 core courses (Math, English, Social and the Sciences) will be available. Kindergarten to grade 9 work will be provided either Thursday, March 19 or Friday, March 20.
Please know that the Minister of Education has made it very clear that this interruption of classes will not impact the progression of students to the next grade or graduation of our grade 12 students. There is also a general belief that grade 12 students would require a numerical mark for courses to ensure admittance to post secondary and also for scholarships. Grade 10 and 11 students would also need numerical marks for use in determining Rutherford Scholarship eligibility in their graduation year. We are still very much deliberating on how to mark and assess your child’s work both online and in traditional paper formats. Right now our focus is to simply provide as much knowledge and learning for your child as possible.
Core courses will be the focus for all grade levels. We are awaiting information from the province about how CTS, RAP, work experience, physical education and other courses will be addressed.
There are still many details to be worked out in the weeks ahead and we will try to provide regular and timely information. If you have any questions do not hesitate to call the school, at 780-366-3801.
Please know that next week, (March 23-27) is the regularly scheduled Spring Break.
“Striving for Excellence” In partnership with the students, parents, and the community of Myrnam, New Myrnam School actively promotes excellence in character, body and mind for all individuals from ECS to Grade 12.
