Important Provincial Update Regarding St. Paul Education Schools

September 15, 2021

This evening, the Alberta Government announced new provincial health measures in response to the Delta variant in our province.

Premier Jason Kenny has announced the following,

“Alberta has declared a state of public health emergency. COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise, largely in unvaccinated Albertans. New measures to protect the health care system, stop the spread, and increase vaccination rates come into effect starting September 16.”

Among the mandatory province-wide mandatory regulations effective tomorrow, September 16:

Mandatory masking for students in Grades 4 and up, plus staff and teachers in all grades
Elementary schools to implement class cohorting.
Indoor sports, fitness, recreation, and performance activities are permitted in schools, with requirements to maintain 2 metre physical distancing where possible.
Please understand we were made aware of these recent mandatory health measures at the same time as you were. We are reviewing the Government release, and tomorrow we will begin the process of making adjustments in order to align with the measures announced by the province. Rest assured, we will be patient with your children as we all become accustomed to new health measures. We are committed to providing clarification and updates as we receive them. We will release another update with more specific details about the province’s new restrictions tomorrow.

As always, we thank our students, families and staff for their cooperation and understanding as we adjust to these changing conditions.
